Road Tripping, Curiosity & Coaching

Growing up, my family and I took a ton of road trips! I can remember the anticipation, the preparation (especially all the snacks), navigating the route on the big paper map, and most importantly, plotting out where the next rest area or hotel was along the route.

The great thing about these trips was that I wasn’t doing them alone. Even if some of the trips took WAY. TOO. LONG. - they were so worth it! The sights, the sounds, the experiences, exploring new places and taking it all in bit by bit.

When was the last time you took a road trip?

Did you know where you were going or did you leave it up to chance to find your way?

If ever you are at a crossroads in your life or you seem to be at a really confusing intersection, it is nice to have someone there who can help you figure out the best route to take given where you are and where you want to be going.

There isn't always a "right" or "wrong" way to get there - and it isn't about the quickest way either!

You may fall into one of two categories:

  1. Perhaps you feel stuck in one place - spinning your wheels - because you just don’t know what direction to even begin going in.

  2. Maybe you are inclined to keep cruising down a familiar road and/or turn back without making any adjustments to the route.

If you don’t stop to ask yourself where you are going or why, it might be helpful to take a different approach. Get curious and don’t be afraid to enlist other people to join you.

I assure you that it will be a trip you won’t forget!

Just how does coaching help you get CURIOUS?

Coaching gives you some time and space to think about your options, understand what is important and meaningful to you. It prompts you to reflect on what is and isn't working, and then helps you try out a route knowing that you have the support of a co-pilot to assist in navigating the twists and turns or ups and downs.

Coaching facilitates your curiosity! In turn, that curiosity allows you to:

🧭answer questions about yourself = find your direction.

💡explore possibilities & weigh options = plan a route.

👉get motivated to move forward = get on your way.

***

Once you have that sense of curiosity and a taste of what it feels like to be on your way, there is really no turning back - there is just forward movement!
